We are on the brink of the Dubai wedding season and with that in mind I have put together some moodboards for wedding guests. It always feels slightly strange here that when you need your summer wardrobe the shops are full to the brim of the winter collections.
Beach weddings are by their very nature often relaxed affairs and as a guest you can take complete advantage of this. Here are some of my ideas for beach wedding looks:
The maxi was made for beach weddings. Loose and elegant, it hits all the right notes. This bright maxi is particularly chic and from our very own Boutique 1. With an obviously large amount of time being spent on the sand, wedges are often a god-send and these Jimmy Choo ones are both beautiful and practical. The whole look is accented with sun kissed gold and these Victoria Beckham shades are a particular favourite.
Short and sweet
A short and floaty number screams beach chic and this one from H&M hits all the right notes whilst saving vital pennies. Teamed with Greek sandals and a statement bag – my latest crush is this structured shoulder bag from Victoria Beckham (there goes the saved pennies). As beach weddings often mean spending a lot of time outside in the blazing sunshine, a hat or some kind of shade is vital which is why I’ve added this fedora hat to the look.
Elegant and formal
As all expats here in Dubai know, a beach event does not always automatically mean a relaxed day is in order. This look is for the smart beach wedding. I won’t lie, this look evolved around the shoes for me – studded Valentino’s…my heart melts. Next came the bold but classic dress and a timeless bag finishes the whole thing off perfectly.
Having had the privilege of meeting Sohad Acouri himself and see the intricate and time consuming work that goes into each and every dress he creates makes me appreciate the beauty of this collection even more. Lebanese designer Sohad Acouri has characterized his latest collection as classic, sensual, magical, feminine, and royal.
With the use of the very best materials such as lace, silk and tulle, Acouri has created a truly timeless and elegant collection which I am thrilled to be sharing with you this sunny Thursday morning.
If like me you’re a lover of jewels then Fash Link could be a whole new experience for you; fabulous jewels at the touch of a button. I am well aware of the dangers of stumbling across websites like this, but I just couldn’t help myself. Me and my little piece of plastic are going to have some fun together.
I have picked out some of my favourite pieces but there are plenty more on the website.
Firstly, if you didn’t know already (and I confess, I did not) My Wardrobe ship to the UAE but they also have a dedicated My Wardrobe Middle East Facebook. This is a dangerous discovering for me and my little plastic card.
Whilst trawling through all the pretty on the My Wardrobe website I realised that my attraction was to the big bright colours of the season; perfect wedding guest attire. Weddings are obviously a celebration and what better way to show your joy then rocking up with the boldness of a bright colour. Go on, take the sun with you to someone’s special day.
With party season almost upon us and for those lucky enough to be attending a winter wedding, there is every need for a new dress! So I’ve done some internet trawling (it’s safer that way) and inevitably spent far too long longing after most things on Net A Porter (definitely not safe) but have found a whole bunch of different styles and price ranges for a party season dress.
As a guest to two weddings in the next few months I have been busy thinking about what to wear…cue mini tantrum when I stand in front of my wardrobe flapping my arms and despairing that ‘I have nothing to wear’. But seriously, I don’t have anything to wear.
Well, maybe I could recyclea bracelet or some shoes or even a dress at a push but it is still always fun to beg/steal/borrow something new (I guess that is where 4 sisters does come in handy).
Spring is a tricky time in England – one minute the sun is out and you’re hot and the next, rain and wind sweep along and take you right back to Winter. Tights and a jacket are a must for Spring.
I am currently in love with pastels, florals and all types of blues. I could do some serious plastic damage over the next few days….
